In her time as a Psychologist, Bec has worked in various public health programs in Western Sydney, including the headspace Primary Care and Early Psychosis programs and the Youth Enhanced Support Service (YESS), as well as private practice. This breadth of experience has provided her with the privilege of getting to know people from all walks of life, and continues to inform and develop her practice.
Alongside training in specific therapeutic modalities, Bec also practices from a Neurodiversity affirming, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, and Health At Every Size perspective. She believes that change should come from a place of self-love, rather than self-criticism, and works hard to develop that self-love in those who choose to work with her.
“As someone who is queer and AuDHD, I grew up in a world that was not made for people like me. These experiences provided me with a fundamental understanding of how important confidence, assertiveness and self-compassion are when facing challenges that can be invisible to others. We often grow up feeling a profound sense of loneliness and ostracism, and even before we know why we are different, we feel it deeply.
As so many Neurodivergent people do, I have a passion for equity, justice, and fairness. I want to use both my lived experiences, and my skills as a psychologist, to empower others to realise their strengths, develop their skills, and build a future that is worth the hard work it takes to get there.”
